Neighborhood

Now you know why US News and World Reports named Albany the number one place to live in New York State. Center Square is an incredibly diverse neighborhood with a true sense of community. The Center Square Association and Historic Albany Foundation have been instrumental in preserving and improving the neighborhood. The Albany Public Library, the Albany Institute of History & Art, and the New York State Museum offer opportunities to learn more about the city’s history. Annually the neighborhood sponsors a hidden garden tour to look behind these historic buildings.

There are several perks to living so close to the Empire State Plaza. Some fan favorites are concerts at The Egg, ice skating in the winter, a year-round farmer’s market, the Tulip Festival, music on the plaza, and many others. If you enjoy walking, you’re steps away from Washington Park and the Hudson River/Corning Preserve is perfect for biking and running.

The restaurant options are endless, here are a few favorites: Lark St. Poke Bar, Son of Egg, Pint-Sized, Stacks Espresso Bar, Iron Gate Cafe, Rosanna’s, The City Beer Hall, Subculture Deli, Bombers Burrito Bar, and Belt Line 3. If you prefer to cook, you’re just a 2-minute walk to the nearest Market 32 for groceries or Lark Natural Foods is right around the corner. Within a few blocks you’ll find the Hudson dog park and Capital Roots’ community garden for all your gardening needs!

Welcome to Center Square and we hope you’re able to call this beautiful neighborhood your home.
